For the upcoming Toy Story 3 movie (which I am really excited about and hope that the T-Rex is still in it), Disney has launched a social media campaign encouraging Facebookers to go to the movies in large groups. Through the Disney app, you can purchase your movie tickets then invite your friends along, all without leaving Facebook.
In the world we live in today, we want everything to be easy and accessible. Disney tapped into that need with their Facebook app called Disney Tickets Together. Instead of coordinating a large group to buy tickets for the same show through texting, phone calls, etc., one person can buy a ticket, then prompt their friends to do the same. The app even shows the day and time the ticket was purchased for, alleviating what could be a messy scheduling dilemma.
Many have argued that social media takes away from the face-to-face interactions many of us had with our peers, but this new app from Disney uses social media as a tool to arrange social gatherings offline. The app already appears to be a big hit as Disney says that some people have purchased as many as 80 tickets.
Will you use it?
